Question no. 22 (Ms. Wilson):

To the Minister of Health, covid-19 pandemic detention orders were issued by medical health
officers for Saskatchewan people to be detained at secure isolation sites. For each month since
January 2021 to present,

(a) How many citizens were issued detention orders, and
(b) What was the length of time the citizens were detained at the secure isolation site?

Answer: Tuesday June 7, 2022

(a) Medical Health Officers reported issuing thirty five (35) detention orders between January I,
2021 and June 29, 2021.

(b) The length of the detention period is determined on a case-by-case basis by the Medical Health
Officer based on an individual’s date of exposure or the estimated period of time that they are
capable of spreading the virus.

 

Question no. 8 (Ms. Wilson):

To the Minister of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety,

(a) what is the monthly cost of secure isolation sites for persons detained under The Public Health Act,

(b) how many people have been issued a detention order,

(c) how long have they been detained there, and (d) what is the monthly cost of the hiring of and recruitment of former police officers that help enforce COVID-19 public health rules?

Answer: Wednesday, November 24, 2021

(a) The Secure Isolation Site (SIS) is no longer operational.

(b) Detention orders are issued by Medical Health Officers, therefore, this question would best be directed to the Ministry of Health.

(c) Individuals received assistance until they were no longer contagious. This varied from 1-14 days.

(d) Monthly costs are not calculated, as the team varies in terms of working hours through a service agreement.
