Treaty 6 130th Anniversary

Along with Provincial Secretary Todd Goudy, I was pleased to attend the 130th Anniversary of the Treaty 6 Adhesion by the woodland Cree Bands at Montreal Lake today. This event is an important reminder of how “we are all treaty people” and the benefits that can be found in working together towards reconciliation.

LG Russ Mirasty joined the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, and Montreal Lake Cree Nation to commemorate the 130th Anniversary of the Treaty 6 Adhesion.

The Crown’s representative and Chiefs from these Nations signed the treaty near Montreal Lake in February of 1889.
